Rayo lamps are beautiful old fuel burning kerosene lamps that were originally made from a brass or nickel plated base that contained air holes at the bottom. The fuel holder part of the lamp was more bulbous and this led up to the part of the lamp where the burner was located with a knob to control the wick.

The original Rayo Lamps were manufactured by the Bradley & Hubbard Mfg Co. in Meriden, CT. They were examples of what are known as round wick central draft lamps and although they looked very distinctive, they kerosene burning versions were rather inefficient.
Where these lamps really come into their own is as redesigned versions where the lamps have been rewired to turn them into a more modern electric lamp.
