The use of the descriptive term Eames Era nowadays can refer to any item of furniture that was made between 1938 and 1970, which are the years that Charles Eames produced the bulk of his work. Very few pieces that are advertised with the Eames tag were actually designed by Eames, it can usually simply be a nod to the materials used in the manufacture or to the decade in which it was made.
When looking for an Eames Era table lamp you will essentially be searching for a retro table lamp. There is an overlap of around a decade at either end of the time scale but people often interchange the two terms at will.
Browsing through the listed Eames Era table lamps below you will notice that the items on offer are vastly different to one another with no real consistent pattern discernable.

Ray and Charles Eames were part of the pioneering modern style furniture movement, designing and creating innovative pieces using new technologies such as fibreglass and plastic resin. Charles Eames first came to prominence through his use of moulded plywood in the creation of his chairs. This then extended on to award winning furniture and architectural designs. Eames Era table lamps are often those types of lamps that have been made out of fiberglass, lucite or other technologies that were new to the mid-20th century.
The Eames name covers a lot of the different lamp categories that are found on this site. Not only is it representative of a certain period in time but it is also representative of the many different materials that have been used.
Not only were Eames lamps available featuring various types of colored glass they were also made using crystal, milk glass and amber. Look for the various Eames glass ball table lamps that have been created over the years and you will find that they have been created using all of the glass types described above.
No matter whether you wish to display Eames ceramic lamps, Eames bronze table lamps or even Eames Atomic lamps there are examples found in all vintage lamp specialists.
Eames Era Lamp Examples
As can be seen by the few examples displayed towards the top of the page, the Eames style is broadly expressive and covers many different other styles. It is most regularly linked to the retro era and it is obvious that many of the lamps that were made around the time are now given the broad descriptor of being Eames style lamps.
Displayed below are three lamps that are advertised and were sold recently as Eames Era table lamps.
There are a couple of things that can be quickly determined just from the three examples displayed above. First of all, the diversity of the types of lamps that are available under the Eames name is very large. Secondly, it is possible to buy very attractive looking lamps, some of them vintage lamps, at very reasonable prices.
